Friday Favorites: 5 Intense No Gym Needed Workouts

I hope it’s been a great week for you!

The last few weeks my workouts have been kind of all over the place. Between moving and visiting family in NH, I haven’t quite gotten back into my workout groove. In Savannah, I was hitting up the gym regularly for strength training workouts and some HIIT cardio. Currently, I don’t belong to a gym and probably won’t for the foreseeable future. So, I’ve been spending some time putting together an updated workout schedule for myself. The plan is to continue training for my half marathon in September, but also to incorporate some killer at home workouts to round out my program!

It cen be easy to get caught up in the “no gym no workout” mentality, but you don’t have to GO anywhere to work out! Working out at home offers flexibility and creativity in your workout routines. The deal is, if you’re going to be relying on home workouts – great. But make them intense! Don’t get too comfy.

Here are five of my favorite NO GYM NEEDED workouts to do anytime, anywhere! (You know what this means…no excuses! Eek!)

1. Greatist’s 30 Minute No Gym Bodyweight Workout

2. Yours Truly’s 20 Minute HIIT Workout

3. Take It Anywhere Tabata from Fit Fab Cities

This one I like because it’s totally customizable. You can do these exercises, substitute some of your favorites, and add tabata circuits to target different areas. The basic framework helps structure your workout!

5. Bikni Prep from POPSugar Fitness

While belonging to a gym is a beautiful thing, there’s no rule that says you have to go to a gym to get in a great workout! The possibilities are endless.

My recommendation? Plan your no gym needed workouts in advance, just like you would if you were going to gym. In my experience, if you simply tell yourself, “I’m going to work out at home today and I’ll figure it out,” your workout will be lacking, bigtime. Know what workout you are going to do when and why you’re going to do that specific workout. Working out at home takes focus and it’s important to set that intention heading into it!
