Friday Five: Wicked Healthy Approved – Top 5 Healthy Brands I Live By!

Hello Hello!

It’s Friday! How’s your week been? Hopefully it’s been a good one and you’re looking forward to a nice weekend!

I’m really excited about today’s Friday Five post!

First, let me just say, I’m not at all a brand person. I don’t own any designer clothes, purses, sunglasses, or jewelry. It’s just not my thing. I like to find my own pieces that I like without basing my choices on popular opinion or price tags. When it comes to most things, I simply couldn’t care less about the brand! (PS, when people say “I could care less, it’s like nails on a chalkboard.)

However, there is an exception to my brand apathy – my HEALTH AND FITNESS. Shocking, right? I do care about what I put in my body and the safety and effectiveness of the workout gear and equipment I use. To me, it’s the highest priority.

The brands I’m sharing with you today are those whose products I use on a daily basis. I’ve grown to depend on them, trust them, and of course, enjoy the heck out of them!

You know if I’m sharing a brand, it’s a special one, and that I’m keeping it real!

Without further ado, here are the top 5 brands that get my WICKED HEALTHY stamp of approval. Drumrollll, please!

1. About Time

This is my absolute favorite protein powder – and that’s saying a lot, as I’m verrrryyyy picky about protein powders! First, the flavor is unbeatable. Rich and creamy – no chalkiness AT ALL. It’s the only protein powder I’ve found that can be mixed with only water and still taste dreamy. It’s also good for baking which is a must for me. And, the ingredients list is also top notch. I won’t go near protein powders with as much crap in them as sugary cereal! None of that here. 5 ingredients or less! That just cannot be beat. Their protein is sweetened with Stevia, not artificial sweeteners. There are no growth hormones, either. It’s definitely a product I feel great about using!

Wicked Healthy Faves:

  • 100% All Natural Whey Protein Isolate – PB flavor and Vanilla flavor

2. Teddie Peanut Butter

Forget bears, this is the only Teddie this girl needs! (I know how awful that was but I couldn’t stop it.) Being the peanut butter freak that I am, I know my way around the peanut butter aisle VERY well and have yet to find anything that tops this peanut butter! I only eat natural PB and this one is off the charts. Perfect texture – not too thin and not too thick to spread – plus just the right amount of salt. They don’t have it everywhere, so…AMAZON.

Wicked Healthy Faves:

  • Smooth AND crunchy – salted!

3. Brooks Running

Brooks has a soft spot in my heart because my first ever pair of real running shoes were Brooks. I got them to train for my half and fell in love! I just bought myself a new pair and got Dan in a pair, as well! Good running shoes are critical for safe and smooth running. You don’t wanna mess around with crummy running shoes, people. Brooks’ motto is “Run Happy” – what’s not to like? Their company philosophy is based off of 9 principles that just make sense and inspire love for running. My favorites are, “The answer is the run” and “When we celebrate the run, good things happen.” Amen to that.

Wicked Healthy Faves:

  • Ghost 6/7
  • Pure Connect

4. Bob’s Red Mill

I get far more excited at the Bob’s Red Mill Section of the store than at the candy section. I have only tried a quarter of their products, but the ones I do use, I use all the time! I want to try baking with their almond meal and making some of their muesli – I had real deal muesli in Switzerland years ago and it’s heavenly. Their blog features great recipes, too. Bob’s has such an awesome variety of products and I’ve never been disappointed in their quality.

Wicked Healthy Faves:

  • chia seed
  • ground flax seed
  • coconut flour

5. Stonyfield Organic

New Hampshire represent! What’s not to love about this company from my home state? They’re the best! One of my favorite things about them? They believe that “cows need hugs, not drugs!” So do I, so do I!!! I love how their site says, “Call us crazy, but we make food without the use of toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics, and GMO’s.” You’re not crazy, Stonyfield…you’re brilliant!

Wicked Healthy Faves:

  • Smooth and Creamy Lowfat Banilla (yes, that’s banana + vanilla and it will knock your socks off!!)
  • Plain Greek

Ok, now I’m going to head out for a run in my Brooks, then make a protein shake with peanut butter About Time Protein, throw in some Teddie PB, Bob’s Red Mill Chia Seeds, and Stonyfield Banilla Yogurt to recover! #mylife

I’m not all about fancy labels or flashy pricetags, but I am all about supporting companies that support my health in return!

I’ll have to try that protein powder! I’ve been searching for a good one and always have that chalky taste that you talked about. This one sounds great so I’ll have to try to find it!

I love these brand round up posts. Sometimes when I see a new brand I search for reviews but often don’t trust them just because some brands create their own reviews. However, I know that Ruthie is the real deal! 🙂

I once knew someone who would only eat Teddie PB. ONLY. That might be taking it a bit far, but what whatever. I will always love Brooks, even if I’m not running in them. ALWAYS

I was loving Bobs Red Mill and still buy some things, but many have allergy warnings so we can’t use them at home anymore (nuts and seeds for my youngest). I really love the variety of things they have to offer!

*slow golf clap* for the couldn’t care less correct usage. Any time I read “could care less.” I want to scream you’re doing it wrong LOL!

I need a new PB, checking out Amazon now for Teddie.

Haha, you could care less? Well, why don’t you?

I love everything on that list but .. Brooks! I was sent a pair to try once and so disappointed I didn’t love them since everyone I know does! It was probably just the style I tried out.
