The longer you wait for your future the shorter it will be

Happy Monday, my friends!

Thank you for all the supportive comments on Friday’s post! Reading your kind words really touched me. If you haven’t yet, check out the post and join the conversation.

Time is a funny thing. Sometimes, it seems to drag on and move so slowly, others, it’s gone in the blink of an eye!

Personally, I do a lot of planning for, dreaming about, and creating visions for the future. That’s all good and great, but the thing is, your future starts any time you say so.

What I mean is that you shouldn’t wait to do the things you want to do or feel the way you want to feel. Start your future right now.

How many times have you laid out ideas like this:

When I ________, I will _______.

As soon as _____________ happens, I’ll start ___________.

I should really start ____________.
We can get so caught up plotting and planning for the perfect time that we neglect to realize that the perfect time might just be NOW!

Think, if you start your future today, where will you be a month from now? Six months, a year?

There’s definitely something from that above list that you can begin today. Maybe it’s something as simple as daily meditation, or a DIY project you’ve been wanting to do. Maybe it’s on a bigger scale. Go for it.

There’s no need to shelf your ideal life ‘until’ the time is right. The future isn’t some far off place – it starts now! So plant the seeds today and watch them bloom.

I’m certainly guilty these days of putting my happiness, health, and career success on hold a bit because I haven’t been feeling like I’m in the right place or time. I’ve been working on shifting that mentality to focus on what’s in my power and how I can use my situation to my advantage. It’s been really good for me to start thinking this way and acting like I’m on a roll! I won’t accomplish or enjoy anything by insisting that I’m not able to do so yet.

You can make your future as long and fulfilling as possible by beginning what you can today. Take a step. Make a leap. Your happiness and success will unfold…and long may they both live!

Wicked Healthy Wonderings: Is there something you’ve been planning on doing when the perfect time comes? How much do you plan for the future?

Good post! I tend to get a little swept up in thoughts of the future and don’t concentrate enough on the present. I really want to try and shift that focus this year.

Yes! I think it’s difficult not to fall into this future-waiting trap. In a related way, I feel like the more anticipation builds up over an event, the quicker it flies by when it happens

This was me during the years that I was waiting for Alex to finish med school. And, to some extent, a little bit how I have been with certain parts of my life even now–trying to figure out where we will be in the future. But the great thing is that now I am comfortable enough in myself to make the micro goals as well as the macro goals!
