WIAW: Day One in Savannah!

Hello from my favorite place, Savannah GA!

I got here yesterday a little before 10am. It was a VERY early morning (I was up at 2:30 to catch a 3:00 bus for a 5:30 flight!) but everything went so smoothly.

Today I’m popping in for a quick WIAW, featuring yesterday’s travel and first day in Savannah eats!

4:30 am airport snack was some pre-made pumpkin banana PB bites. I’ll share the recipe soon – super easy!

8:30am, almost there! Made myself some oats with banana, raspberries, and PB to take with me. Was stahhhving and ate these in about 1 minute flat!

PS: itty bitty plane.

Once I got to Savannah, I grabbed an iced coffee with soy at the airport and it was glorious! I held off because I knew it would taste better upon arrival.

First up was a visit to my BFF Ali, then we stopped at Whole Foods to grab lunch to go. (So missed that!) I scarfed it down before I remembered to snap a pic, but I’m sure there’s a good blogger out there who has some sort of whole foods concoction featured on their WIAW that looks pretty much like the one I devoured!

The next few hours were spent walking around the beach and my dad’s neighborhood. He has the cutest little cottage within walking distance to the beach – like CLOSE – and I was in heaven, even though it was kind of cloudy and windy. Whatever!

So many birds! The pelicans were huuuge!

4:30 anddd…Of course I had a snack. I picked up a yummy little granola bar number when I was at WF and enjoyed it in the little terrace at my dad’s! Perfection.

A little rest and a nice hot shower later, we headed downtown for a drink and din.

6:30, downtown baby! We hit up the upstairs terrace at Chruchill’s Pub for my first “I’m back in Savannah!!” drink, a margarita with a splash of OJ instead of sour mix. It was a winner, oh yes.

8:00, dinner time! We HOUSED some Mellow Mushroom, and man it was delish. I love how doughy their crust is! We got broccoli, mushrooms, and onions.

I also had an amazing salad with pecans, apples, feta, craisins, and tempeh! This salad was a very pleasant surprise. I’d order it over and over.

Our server said she was impressed because there was nothing left. We did a bang up job!

And that covers the entire day’s worth of food! So much goodness and it was only day one! I’ll be posting plenty more Savannah pics on Insta so be sure to follow along!

    I love that Mellow Mushroom Salad!! But I’ve never had it with Tempeh! So good:)

    Happy WIAW! Thanks for sharing your eats – I love seeing what everyone’s eating. And I love Savannah and that you can just be outside with drinks downtown and walking around! Everything looks so good – esp. that pizza and salad. I love pizza/salad combo and sometimes get weird looks when i eat them together!

    Ohhh man, I’m normally a thin crust pizza fan but I LOOOOVE the crust at Mellow Mushroom! I’m definitely craving it now 🙂

    Ah! I am a fan of Mellow Mushroom. I agree, their crust is divine. I typically get a custom pizza there with chicken, mushrooms, and olives on top.
