Friday Favorites: 5 Kitchen Tools that Make Healthy Eating Easier!

Hey there! Happy Friday! And Happy Halloweeeeen!!!

I know that you’re probably indulging in some Halloween candy, but most of the time you’re aiming to eat healthy and tasty meals, right?

Eating healthy takes dedication, passion, commitment, fun…and some key tools to help you along the way!

Imagine this:

  • You want to meal prep, but what do you put the food in?
  • You want a nutritious, energizing smoothie, but don’t want to spend 8 dollars at the local smoothie joint!
  • You want to eat less processed carbs, but don’t know how to make your favorite dishes without them!

Such is the horror of living life without key items in your kitchen to help you have healthy food on hand! For Friday Favorites, we are talking about must have items for a healthy kitchen.

I’ve definitely learned that what works for me is to keep it simple by investing in quality kitchen ware that helps eating wicked healthy more convenient. Like anything else, if you fail to plan then you plan to fail – did I get it right? I’ve also learned that all it takes is several key items to make the cooking process go smoothly. Having the right items at your finger tips allows you to make healthy choices any time of day.

Eating healthy doesn’t just happen – it’s a deliberate choice you make every day. It doesn’t have to be a hard choice at all – healthy tastes and feels great – but it can be wayyyyy easier with the right kitchen tools!

1. Blender

Smoothies, sauces, soups, pancakes – toss healthy ingredients into a blender and voila!

This model should suit most needs!

2. Spiralizer

Change it up by swapping out pasta or rice for veggies using the amazing Sprializer! Using a spiralizer is a great way to get more veggies in and lighten up some of your favorite dishes. Make zoodles (zucchini noodles), sweet potato noodles, even broccoli noodles! I have this one – it’s cheap and gets the job done. Nothin’ fancy here!

3. Food scale

Not everyone measures their food (or should!) but food scales help give an accurate read on portion size (newsflash: there’s often a big discrepancy between what the package says in a serving size and the actual serving size. Yup.) Many people struggle with keeping portions in check, and using a food scale helps. After all, you can’t manage what you can’t measure, right? Also, this handy tool can be used when measuring ingredients for recipes, too! Here’s the one on my counter!

Crockpots allow you to make homemade versions of things you’d normally buy that contain extra sugar and processed ingredients (applesauce, soups, etc). You can also use your crockpot to make a healthy dish that will last you several days so that you have some nutritious and delicious meals ready to go throughout the week. Total lifesaver! This set it and forget it model is where it’s at!

5. Food Storage Containers

These guys make meal prep possible. Prep a bunch of healthy eats for the week, and divvy up into your containers for grab and go healthy meals and snacks! It may seem like a no-brainer, but it’s so good to have containers on hand so you can portion out your meals and bring whatever you need with you to work or on trips. I love this 50 piece set because it has nifty containers for everything from peanut butter or salad dressing to big salads and leftovers!

You don’t have to be a top chef to cook healthy, delicious meals. All you need is to set yourself up for success!

Hope your Friday rocks.
