Friday Five: I must confess…5 Guilty Pleasures!

Happy Friday, friends!

How’s the week rounding out?

It’s been one of those weeks where the days all smush together and then whoa – Friday! I work tonight, then I’ve got a weekend full of teaching some classes and straight up chillin! Plus, watching the Superbowl on Sunday – which is basically an excuse to eat. Go Pats!

Last week’s Friday Five dealt with a pretty heavy topic (which was a good thing!) but I decided to switch it up this week and post about something totally light and silly! Gotta be well rounded, right?

I always wonder about what people are really like behind closed doors – is that weird? I mean, for the most part, we know the version of each other that is presented to the world. But everyone’s got their quirks, bad habits, embarrassing mishaps, weirdo moments…and guilty pleasures! Let’s start there, shall are?

Guilty pleasures – yup, I’ve got more than a few and I know you do too! ? Some of these I’m sure you can relate to and some might just surprise you!

1. The Bachelor

I just get sucked in, y’all. Sometimes I think to myself, you really shouldn’t be wasting your time on this. Get some extra reading in. Do some blog work. Study! But no, I must watch. I luuuuuurve Chris but am not head over heels for any of the girls yet? Maybe it will kick in. I am finding this season especially tacky and sort of forced, but I tune in every time without fail!

2. Eating all the good stuff out of the ice cream

Does anyone else do this? I’m infamous for it in my family. I will pick through the entire gallon of ice cream and just eat the good stuff – cookie dough, peanut butter cups, oreo pieces, etc. At the end, there’s a lot of plain vanilla ice cream left. When the mood strikes me, I will buy a gallon knowing full well this is to be its fate. Sometimes, my mom will get me my own separate gallon if I’m coming to visit so that I can have my way with it and she can actually enjoy her ice cream, too. Kemps is my #1 victim!

3. Nicholas Sparks books

I’m an English teacher by trade, folks, so this is big. Reading is one of my favorite things ever – total bookworm! I read novels, memoirs, history, poetry, essays…you name it. But, also included in my reading repertoire…. good ol’ Nicholas Sparks. I just cannot resist getting lost in a corny, juicy romance. The Best of Me? All over it. The Lucky One? Swoon. These are books I most certainly do read entirely for pleasure. They don’t make me smarter, but they do make me smile. And tear up…oh gosh. I definitely wouldn’t be putting these on any must read book list anytime soon, but they sure do hit the spot!

4. Kylie Jenner on Instagram

Celebs really aren’t my thing, but I cannot look away! Huge lips and all, I am seriously digging Kylie. Her style, her hair, her nails…I’m into it. She definitely has kind of a mean girl mug, but I don’t mind. I sort of want to be her. Guilty.

5. Wearing my man’s clothes whenever possible

You might picture this:

But what I mean is this:

I’m talking the oversized, over worn, totally old school clothes that are super comfy and kinda smell like him. I look like a teenage boy when I wear them and it’s the least sexy thing ever but I just love to so much. Dan is always looking for his sweats and hoodies and I’m all like oh they’re right here…on me.

Other honorable mentions:

Taking selfies with my dogs

Fried chicken – Extra crispy, OMGGGG

Watching people fall (unless they actually get hurt, of course!) This video kills me! Sorry.

Double dipping the PB spoon

Dancing to old school R&B by myself

Now that I have exposed another layer of my real self, it’s your turn!

Tell me in the comments: What are your guilty pleasures?!

I’m linking up with Heather for Friday Favorites, because come on, these really are my favorite things. ?

Cheers to a weekend with lots of pleasure – let’s ditch the guilt!

I eat all the good stuff out of everything–pasta sauce (the big tomato chunks..yassss), cereal, ice cream, salads…. I hunt and peck as I eat anyway, and Alex doesn’t usually care (but my mom enabled me early on) so I’m pretty terrible ?

This so fun!! I love, love Nicholas Sparks! Whoever says they haven’t seen or read “Noah’s Diary” has not lived yet! I have seen the trailer for “The Best of Me” and I am reading the book ASAP! I am secretly addicted to reality T.V. too…KUWTK 🙂 I don’t know if this is a guilty pleasure but I would start eating my pizza from the crust. Have a great weekend!

The Jenners/Kardashians are an interesting bunch…I went through a short-lived phase of watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians…they really DO do their makeup so well!

Omg I have so many of the same. I am fascinated by Miss Jenner and really wish I could apply makeup to look as perfect as she does. Maybe I’ll try out her big lips someday, haha. I love picking chunks out of the ice cream or at least making sure I get a scoop with the most add-ins. It’s just like how I pick the piece of cake with the most frosting!
