Hold Your Own Well Being Sacred

Hello friends!

Happy Monday to you!

How are you doing? How are you feeling? I hope all is well.

Monday tends to be the most tense and stressful day of the week for most, so it’s extra important to breathe, sweat, and smile today.

Which is why I want to talk about our well-being.

Sure, I am passionate about health and fitness, but the reason I am is because they play such a positive role in my well-being. Living a healthy lifestyle helps me greet each day with energy, enthusiasm, helps me look and feel great, and enables me to think with a clear mind. (Well, everyone has their moments…or weeks…of craziness, but, for the most part!) Putting my health first contributes greatly to my overall well-being.

So often we focus on health and fitness in terms of our weight, our clothing size, or how we look. That all has its place, and it’s totally normal to put emphasis there, but the real reason having a healthy diet and exercising regularly really matters is because of the bigger picture.

When Dan and I got married, we exchanged these simple vows:

“With this ring, you are sacred to me.”

When something is sacred to you, you treat it with the utmost care and love. You cherish it so dearly that you’ll do what ever you need to do to take care of it.

My husband is sacred to me, and I’m so lucky to have him to share my life with! But of course, as much as we cherish another we must also value ourselves! Over the past few weeks I’ve done some reflecting. I’ve realized that the sacredness of my own well-being is why I value my physical and emotional health so much. It’s why I commit to making healthy choices and working out every day and treat myself with respect.

If I didn’t recognize and value the immense impact that food and fitness has on my well being, I’m not sure I’d have the drive or willpower to put it at the forefront every.single.day. Maybe this is where people “fall of the wagon” or don’t reach their full fitness potential. If my wellbeing wasn’t sacred to me, maybe I’d choose to overindulge more often, drink more, or skip workouts, because well, what would the big deal be?

But my well-being is a huge, huge deal. And I hope it is for you, too.

If you’re looking for a motivating force to put your health and fitness first, do it because your own wellbeing is sacred to you. The scale, the clothes, the bathing suit will follow as a result. But when your reason for living a healthy lifestyle goes beyond all that, that’s what keeps you going and keeps you on the path.

Maybe this shift in mindset is what it takes to be our happiest, healthiest selves!

So make a promise to yourself! Treat yourself with the utmost love and care…and hold your own well-being sacred!

Let’s Talk: What motivates you to lead a healthy lifestyle? What’s the biggest benefit of health and fitness?

I think that we all have to remember that we are sacred to someone else–we should be sacred to ourselves. That is why self care is so important–if you don’t take care of yourself, how can you give real care to others?
