I’m Back! It’s Good to be a Bachelorette in NYC!

Hello, friends!
I know…long time, no see.

It’s safe to say I’ve been MIA from blogging for almost a month now.

I didn’t mean to. It sort of just…happened.

However, I will say that this break turned out to be a good thing for me. Taking a step back helped me focus some time and energy on other things in my life – and sometimes, let me focus on nothing at all, which is also needed! I’ve really missed blogging and all of you, though!

I figured it’s the start of a new month and what better time to get back to the blog! I’m glad to be making a comeback;) On Friday, I’ll go into more detail about my blogging break and why it’s totally okay for YOU to take a break from something in your life, too.

For now, though, I’m going to just dive into FUN STUFF! Namely, my weekend in NYC either my sister.

As you’re reading this, I’ll be on the train back to Vermont following what was an all out awesome “bachelorette” weekend.

Wedding stuff is in full swing, and when thinking about bachelorette festivities, I know that having one big shindig wouldn’t really work. My friends are pretty spread out, and a couple of them are busy mamas! So, I decided to break it up a one thing with paddy, then a couple chill get together a with my friends from NH and VT. Perfect!

I arrived in NYC on Friday evening and met my sister at her place.

Our weekend started out with dinner at The Little Beet Table. It was a really cute spot! It was a great little place to have a nice meal and have a sister catch up session. Plus, they had roasted sweet potatoes, so duh. I’m in.

After dinner and a couple more drinks, we headed to bed and CRASHED. I took an overnight coma.

Which is probably why I woke up so refreshed and ready to greet the day! We started off with mani/pedi’s at my sister’s neighborhood nail place and it was divine. Seriously, NYC nails are the best!

After nails, we headed to brunch at Essex, where some of my sister’s friends were set to meet us for a little day drinkin’ and brunch eatin’. What I didn’t realize what that this was going to be an actual bachelorette event – but I totally got the picture when Hannah’s friend showed up with all the bachelorette goodies – balloon, tiara (with veil), bride pimp cup, and bright sparkly ring. Okay then, if it’s gonna be like that, then…GAME ON.

Those nacho-y egg things were delish and bottomless mimosas were happening. Full disclosure: I do not partake in drinking very often at all – and so my sister was pretty set on getting me tipsy. Mission accomplished – because next, we headed to a rooftop bar where they serve Popsicles in prosecco! Heaven.

The views were unreal. The Statue of Liberty and and the NJ skyline were looking mighty fine!

The day also included a gorgeous view of and lounge in Battery Park. I was loving life!! There’s just something about the city that can make you feel so alive!

Around 6, we were back at my sister’s apartment and ready to mow on some food! It involved her couch, and about four different take out options – we got Pad Thai, nachos, chicken fingers & fries, and pizza. So basically, all of the food groups. There are no photos to document this incident, but trust me when I tell you it was a feast of epic proportions. And inhaled in about 20 minutes.

Bed happened really early and it was everything I ever wanted.

I woke up in decent shape on Sunday, and we had a lovely little day planned. It started with a smoothie and then my first SoulCycle class! It was kind of trance-like and a bit cult-ish, but turned out to be a pretty killer workout! I was definitely sweating and burning, which I was pumped about. Needed that after Saturdays indulgences!

In planning this weekend a while ago, my sister asked me what I wanted to do, and I told her I wanted to go to the Museum of Natural History! I know, I’m a party animal!

We ended up going and we were both so glad we did. It was really cool. I even got to hang out with my faves, the elephants!

They’re the best.

After wandering around the museum for a while, we were ready for a treat! I had heard about Levain bakery’s cookies, and we were closeby, so of course we headed that way to see if it was worth the hype! And…the cookies are uh may zing! They are thick and soft and warm and gooey.

Served with a little milk, this was the perfect treat. All enjoyed while it was pouring rain outside! Talk about a cozy and yummy experience!

It continued to rain, which was fine, because all we wanted to do at that point was get in PJ’s and cuddle on the couch. Nicholas Sparks movies were watched, no shame. It was just what we needed to close out the weekend. Sister time is the best time! My sister and her friends really made this weekend a special one!

I hope that you enjoyed your weekend and are feeling ready for the week ahead. It feels really good to be back here on SWH and I’m looking forward to catching up and making up for lost time!

Be sure to check back on Wednesday for a pretty sweet giveaway, too.
